We recently attended the Elsie MacGill Awards Gala, held by the Northern Lights Aero Foundation in support of women in aviation. Northern Lights is a non-profit organization that works to attract young women to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace, by celebrating the achievements of accomplished women in these fields.
The annual Elsie MacGill Awards Gala honours women who have made significant contributions in their field. We are proud to support the Northern Lights Aero Foundation, and their efforts to educate women about the careers available in aviation. Together we can inspire and support women in pursuit of their dreams of flight.
This year both Air Georgian COO Julie Mailhot, and Julie Beverstein, assistant chief pilot, recruitment and retention at Porter Airlines, who spent part of her career at Air Georgian, received these prestigious awards. Learn more about these women, and their accomplishments in our recent blog post.
The event was a great success, and a reminder of the importance of celebrating and encouraging diversity and inclusion in the aviation industry.
At Air Georgian we strive to break down gender bias and barriers in our industry, by opening doors for women in aviation, developing supportive partnerships, and providing resources for career growth and fulfillment.
We are proud to employ more than double the national and international average of female pilots and to have approximately 40% of management positions filled by women. Further than this we are challenging ourselves and our industry peers to reach gender parity through all sectors of our company within the next ten years.
Learn more about this initiative, and the resources we are dedicating to aviation career awareness, recruitment and retention, in our open letter to the aviation industry.
